801st Engineer Aviation Battalion
This unit began to arrive during July 1950 for the task of aerodrome reconstruction. The main job was to widen the main runway and the building of the 2,300ft eastern extension. Corporal Roop was with the 801st Engineer Aviation Battalion as a SCARWAF (Special Category Army Regulars with Air Force). The mixer was operated by Cpl Roop and Sgt Blankenship and in the background are two B-50s. |
